Booking a trek with Salkantay Horizons is straightforward and takes less than ten minutes. Fill out the booking form below with your preferred trek, travel dates, group size, and contact details. Our team in Cusco will confirm availability within 24 hours and send you a booking confirmation along with everything you need to prepare for your trip.
We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly for travel between May and August when departures fill up quickly. A confirmed booking requires only a 30 percent deposit. The remaining balance is due before the trek begins.
Deposit: 30% of the total trek price to confirm your reservation.
Balance: The remaining 70% is due before the start date of your trek. Payment can be made online through your booking link or in person at our office in Cusco on arrival.
Payment platform: We process all payments securely through WeTravel, a trusted platform designed specifically for tour operators and their clients. WeTravel allows you to pay by credit card, debit card, or bank transfer in a fully secure environment. You will receive a payment link directly after your booking is confirmed. No payment information is handled manually or stored by our team.

We understand that travel plans change. Our cancellation policy is designed to be fair to both parties.
More than 30 days before the trek start date: Full refund of all payments made, including the deposit. No cancellation fee.
Between 15 and 30 days before the trek start date: The deposit of 30% is non-refundable. The balance payment is refunded in full.
Less than 15 days before the trek start date: No refund is available. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers trip cancellation for this reason.
No-shows and departures after the trek has begun: No refund is available for unused services once the trek has started.
If you need to change your trek dates, we will do our best to accommodate you subject to availability. Date changes requested more than 30 days before the original start date are made at no charge. Changes requested within 30 days of departure are subject to availability and may incur an administrative fee depending on the circumstances. Contact us directly and we will find the best solution possible.
For groups of six or more people booking together, contact us directly rather than using the standard booking form. Group bookings receive priority date allocation, dedicated logistics planning, and pricing that reflects the group size. We handle corporate groups, family reunions, university expeditions, and travel trade bookings on a regular basis and are set up to manage the specific requirements that group travel involves.
Travel insurance is required for all participants on every Salkantay Horizons trek. This is not a recommendation. It is a condition of booking.
Your policy must include emergency medical coverage, emergency evacuation, and trip cancellation. Coverage for high altitude trekking up to a minimum of 5,000 meters is required. Many standard travel insurance policies exclude high-altitude activities by default. Check your policy specifically for this exclusion before purchasing and before submitting your booking.
If you arrive in Cusco without adequate insurance, we will ask you to purchase a suitable policy before the trek begins. Several reputable providers offer policies specifically designed for adventure trekking and we can point you toward options if needed.
How far in advance should I book? For the dry season months of May through August, we recommend booking at least two to three months in advance. Departures during these months fill up and Machu Picchu entrance tickets have limited daily availability that we secure at the time of booking. For travel in the shoulder and wet season months, four to six weeks of lead time is generally sufficient, though earlier is always better.
Can I book for a solo traveler? Yes. Solo travelers join our group departures at the standard per-person rate. If you prefer a private departure, our Private Salkantay Trek option is available at the private pricing listed on the trek page. Many solo travelers who join group departures end up traveling with people they remain in contact with long after the trek ends. The trail has a way of producing that.
What happens if my flight is delayed and I miss the departure? Contact us immediately. Depending on the circumstances and where the group is on the route, we will do everything possible to get you to the trailhead or connect you with the group. We cannot guarantee this in all cases, which is another reason why travel insurance with trip delay coverage matters.
Are the Machu Picchu tickets included? Yes. Machu Picchu entrance tickets are included in the price of all our treks and are purchased by us on your behalf at the time of booking. Your passport number is required at the time of booking for this reason. The tickets are non-transferable and linked to your passport.
Can I add Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain to my booking? Yes, both can be added at the time of booking for an additional cost. These tickets are strictly limited and sell out weeks or months in advance during high season. If you want either, tell us when you book rather than after.
Is a vegetarian or other dietary requirement accommodated? Yes. All dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergies are accommodated with advance notice. Include your dietary requirements in the booking form and our kitchen team will be fully briefed before departure.
What is the minimum group size for a departure to run? Our group departures run with a minimum of two participants. If you are booking as a solo traveler or a couple, you will join a scheduled group departure. If a departure does not reach the minimum, we will offer you an alternative date or the option to upgrade to a private departure.
Do you offer discounts for children? Children under 12 trekking on the Classic or Express routes with a parent or guardian receive a 15 percent discount on the trek price. Children must meet the minimum age requirement for each route. Contact us directly for family group bookings to discuss the best arrangement for your group.
